Project Life Tuesday-Week 16

welcome to my week!
i'm still keeping (mostly) caught up with my pictures for project life.
go visit the mom creative to see others.

4.21.10
wednesday
today was our stampin' up class. here i am working on the cutest projects--will share later.
4.22.10
thursday
this morning was the volunteer appreciation breakfast at mckinlee's school. we were treated to the most amazing breakfast foods. all around the library were picture frames with quotes. as we left we got to pick the one we wanted. this was my pick. i just love that quote.
4.23.10
friday
our dinner tonight: pesto shrimp pasta with garlic bread. yum!
4.24.10
saturday
mckinlee bought a do it yourself spa kit and she spent forever making soaps, masks and fizzy bath balls.
4.25.10
chris gave the talk at a different congregation today. i ended up seeing a friend that i hadn't seen since we were in pioneer school together in 1998. (in the picture, she doesn't too much--but in real life lacee looks and talks so much like sandra bullock!)
4.26.10
monday
some of my anniversary presents from the vintage pearl. i've been wanting a family one with all our names on it and loved this one with the little birds. the bracelet i love and it has this year's scripture on it: love never fails. the other two charms are to go on my necklace danielle got me a few years ago with my word of the year on it. i added this year's word: involved-- and a little heart with my initial. i was so excited to finally get my goodies in the mail!
4.27.10
tuesday
two books i just got from my book club. already finished the mary higgins clark--not her best one, but it was ok. just starting the other one--it's pretty interesting so far.

have a great week--see you next tuesday!

what's in your purse?

what do the contents of your purse say about you?

i read this cool blog post the other day by stacy julian and decided to play along.
i think the idea behind is pretty neat. i guess you really can tell a lot about someone according to what is in their purse, backpack, diaper bag, etc.
i think i am going to do this every few months and see how things have changed over the course of time!

so what does my purse say about me?

1. i like brown, green & turquoise
(and apparently birds too.)

2. i like ice cream

3. i like candy

4. i have dry cuticles and hands

5. i like things to match

6. i like notebooks and planners

7. i like make up

8. i like to save money
(only in the sense that i use that savings to buy more!)

9. i need the "essentials" during certain times of the month

10. i know why i have a neck ache.

so what does your purse say about You?
take a picture and leave me a comment. i would love to know!

Project Life Tuesday-week 15

another week has flown by! this is my 15th week into project life this year. go over to the mom creative to see what other people have been doing.

4.14.10
wednesday
a new book that chris wants to read. instead of writing the title down, i just took a picture!

4.15.10
thursday
went to have my teeth cleaned today. i missed my 6 month visit, so it had been a year since i had been, but still didn't have any cavities. (that's probably only because there aren't many more teeth that don't already have fillings in them! ha!)
4.16.10
friday
grocery day--really trying to eat more veggies, fish and chicken.
4.17.10
saturday
chris and i started p90x today. i can see why people quit after one day. i have never felt so sick after a workout--and we only did arms, back and abs. after it was over, i crawled to the hall bathroom convinced i was going to throw up. (thankfully, i didn't.) we just keeping encouraging each other to do what we can do and by this summer we will have a beach body! (stop laughing.)

(i just realized how many pictures i take on my kitchen island. sorry about that. will try to change things up a bit.)

4.18.10
sunday
danielle got me this bag as a thank you for sadie's shower. i have been waiting until it got warm to use it. i have been using it as my ministry bookbag and i love it! thanks d!
4.19.10
monday
dillards is having their lancome gift with purchase so i ran by today to pick up some new lip gloss. juicy tubes are my absolute favorite lip glosses. toffee pop is my favorite color so i got that one and tried a new pink one. i think it's pink horizon. you got to pick 6 out of 11 free items and a cute make up tote too (their mascara is also my all time favorite). what a great deal!
4.20.10
tuesday
this is what my entry table is looking like right now--simple and summer-y!

thanks for taking a peek at my week!

Teacher Gifts

it's show us your life friday over on kelly's blog. today people are sharing teacher gifts.
i usually try to do something really special, crafty, etc. for teachers. they deserve so much. our school now also does a big basket for each teacher with a certain theme each year & i usually will put in a gift certificate to their favorite store or restaurant.

i don't think i took pictures of kinder & 1st grade but they were really cute.
for kinder, i made her teacher a 6x6 scrapbook of why mckinlee loved kinder.
i went on every field trip, etc. so i had a lot of pictures!

for the life of me i can't remember what i did for 1st grade, but i remember it being cute!

this was mckinlee's 2nd grade teacher's gift.
i bought a new paint can and just went wild with scrapbook paper, flowers, ribbon, etc.
i put a tea cup inside, different teas, sweets, etc.
i think the card said:
thanks for being a great TEAcher!
(so clever, right? ha!)

i couldn't find any pictures of the cute things i did for 3rd grade (what is wrong with me?) but one of the things i did was an 8x10 frame with a picture of the whole class. the picture was 5x7 and basically i just made a scrapbook page and framed it. her teacher loved it!

here are some of things we did for 4th grade. i made mckinlee's 4th grade teacher, her 3rd grade teacher, all her other teachers and the principal, vp, counselor, office workers, etc. these cute candy packs. we learned how to make them at my stampin' up class. they are a little time consuming, but oh-so-cute! everyone loved them.

we also made her teacher this little card kit. mckinlee and i actually went together to a class and made this for her 4th grade teacher.

here are the individual pieces that the teacher can put together to create her own card. she really liked it!

here's another cute idea. we found out the teacher's favorite candy and got these jars from wal-mart. ribbon, a flower punch and a little bling=cuteness

last year i tried to have something for mck to give her teacher everyday of teacher appreciation week.
i'm not sure what we'll do this year since two of her teachers are men.
(something tells me they wouldn't appreciate a do it yourself card kit as much as her teacher last year! ha!)

i can't wait to see other people's ideas.

Project Life Tuesday-Week 14

wow! i can't believe i've kept up with this for 14 weeks (actually longer because i did it all last year too!) "this" is project life. for more info. go here (becky higgins) or here (the mom creative).
these are my pictures for the past week.

4.7.10
wednesday
shame on me! you would think after my little indiscretion with the girl scout cookies (in which i ate 2 whole boxes of trefoils and samoas by myself) i would not fall victim to the clearanced peeps. sadly, it's true. i just love those sugary, pastel lumps of marshmallow. i don't which i like better--fresh and spongy when you first open them, or when they're a little stale and crunchy. again, shame on me!

4.8.10
thursday
problems with air conditioning are never fun :( our problems kept multiplying this particular day. by the end of this visit, i had good news and bad news. the bad news is that we need a new evaporation coil that will cost $2000. (i think that's what it's called. mostly i just focused on the 2 with all those zeros behind it!) the good news is that hopefully it's covered under our home warranty and we will only pay $60. we're still waiting to find out which it will be.
4.9.10
friday
mckinlee made this pretty bouquet of paper flowers the other day. she worked on this forever, painting each piece of paper, folding them just so and attaching them to green bendy straws. i now have them in my kitchen window.

4.10.10
saturday
mckinlee was invited to have a sleep over at a friend's house tonight. my big plan was to spend the afternoon/early evening cleaning out my closet. but this was the first saturday chris hasn't had to work in forever, so instead of cleaning, we went shopping and out to eat. he got some of his anniversary presents and we just had a fun afternoon together. we ended our evening with dinner at cheesecake factory and looking around at barnes & noble. this beautiful thing was our dessert--the tuxedo chocolate cheesecake. yum!

4.11.10
sunday
some of my mint survived the winter and is coming back--i'm so excited!

4.12.10
monday
i am loving my motivatedmoms.com planner. it really is motivating me to be more productive and i definitely need that!
4.13.10
tuesday
i got a new floor steamer the other day (i had intended it to be part of my anniversary gift because i'd really been wanting one, but chris said a cleaning item shouldn't be an anniversary gift--isn't that sweet?) anyway, i ordered it off amazon.com and am loving it. i can use it on my tile and wood floors and everything looks so clean.
well that was my exciting week~~thanks for stopping by!

spoonfull

mckinlee and i went to the best yogurt place for our friday treat last friday. it's called spoonfull and it was delicious. i brought my camera and i'm glad i did because it was so cute!

you select your container...

then what kind of frozen yogurt you want...

then put whatever toppings you want, weigh it and pay for it.

mckinlee got cappuccino with heath bar bits, birthday cake with sprinkles and strawberry sorbet with chocolate syrup.

i got what she did minus the birthday cake and chocolate syrup.
isn't that the cutest cup and spoon?

the whole place was just so cute i tell you!

there was a wall of polaroids of people in the shop (i guess when they first opened.)

can you tell mckinlee was thrilled to be having her picture taken? ha!

we liked it so much we're going there tomorrow after school! yum:)

Project Life Tuesday-Week 13

wow! week 13 already. welcome to project life tuesday. if you're wondering what project life is you can visit becky higgin's blog. or go to the mom creative.

3.31.10
wednesday
our family picture last night at the memorial of jesus christ's death.

4.1.10
thursday
we usually have homemade pizza once a week. the roasted red peppers and goat cheese are making my mouth water as i type!

4.2.10
friday
every friday i try to take mckinlee out for a treat after school. (i was so tired of hearing her ask everyday if we could go get some sweet after school, i finally said we will do it only on friday's). we decided to try spoonfull. it's a frozen yogurt place where you choose everything yourself and fill up your bowl with as much yogurt and as many toppings as you want. it was so yummy!

4.3.10
saturday
mckinlee made this "couch" out of a box, 2 pillows and a blanket. it cracked us up because it really did look like a little couch. she sat on it all evening as we did our family worship night!

4.4.10
sunday
i have the easiest recipe for banana bread and whipped this up sunday night. by monday evening the entire loaf was gone!

4.5.10
monday
mckinlee got a couple new outfits today after school at justice. she loves this store and, as most of their stuff is really cute, so do i! (as you can tell, she is my comfort girl!)

4.6.10
tuesday
cute card i took a picture of at my stampin' up lady's house. i just loved that embossed heart.

thanks so much for stopping to take a peek at my week!

organization

kelly's korner on friday featured her show your life series. it was all about organization and sharing tips with each other. i thought i would post a few of mine since i have been on somewhat of an organizational kick lately!

i cleaned out all my bathroom cabinets the other day and threw away a ton of stuff!
~my best tip is to get bins or containers for everything~

i love all my brushes in the little juice glasses

plastic containers from the dollar store make such a difference and keep things in one area.

love these lime green ones.

in my closet i use these sterilite drawers to hold jewelry, flower pins and headbands.
these drawers were previously being used for scrapbook supplies. when i organized things differently in that room, i re-purposed these.

i have this big bulletin board hanging on one wall of my closet and i can hang all my necklaces on it. being able to see what you have makes such a difference!

this is my "junk" drawer in the kitchen. pretty good, huh? again the little bins completely changed this drawer. wish i had a before picture!

this is how i store all my wood mounted stamps now. i love this because i can see what i have.

this is how i keep up with my bible reading. i love to check off things, so this little schedule was perfect.

love this part of my pantry. wish every shelf looked this way. maybe one day!

on the door of the pantry, i keep a calendar with our planned meals. this helps me to know what we've had recently and what i will make on any given day.

these are just some of the things i do. if you could see the rest of my house, you might get a good laugh at me posting an organization post, but i'm trying.
will soon be downloading this planner from motivated moms and keeping up with various chores this way.
if you have any great organizational tips, let me know in the comments.
