what we wore wednesday

welcome to what we wore wednesday--where we link up to the pleated poppy and share some of the outfits we've worn over the week.
i haven't done this in a long time, so there's more pictures than usual.
some people do this to get out of the rut of wearing a certain style of clothing or just comfy clothes all the time--mckinlee & i do it more to remember some of the things we've put together and to remember ones that we're definitely not going to wear again!

a few yummies

here are a few things i've been enjoying lately...

first up--this wonderful concoction of french bread, goat cheese, peaches, cinnamon & honey.
i got the idea from jill's blog.
i didn't have a baguette and i used awful grocery store peaches--i'm sure it's fabulous with fresh peaches!
i will be having this quite often.

i'd never had peanut sauce until my friend, julie, told me about it.
this kind is from target and is a good reason to have to go to target (as if i needed a reason to have to go to target)

i saute chicken, make spaghetti noodles and toss with the peanut sauce, then sprinkle some green onions--i went a little overboard with the onions here.
very yummy and super quick and easy!

finally, one of the crockpot recipes i tried the other day.
i'm pretty sure i found this on kelly's korner during her crockpotalooza.

beef tips & noodles

1 pkg. egg noodles (or rice)
2 pkgs. brown gravy mix
1 lb. beef tips or stew meat, cubed
8 oz. sliced mushrooms

place meat at bottom of crockpot. top with sliced mushrooms. mix brown gravy according to package directions. pour over beef tips and mushrooms. cook on low 6 to 8 hours until meat falls apart because it's so tender. cook egg noodles according to package. cover with meat & gravy mix.
this was good too! (although the gravy was a little thin)
with cooler weather (hopefully) coming, i'm getting anxious to accumulate more crockpot recipes.
i will share when i find some good ones!

logan's woodland baby shower

saturday was jennifer's shower for baby logan.
the theme was woodland creatures since that's what she's doing his room in.
it turned out so cute--danielle & jennifer's mom & sister had everything looking so darling!

here danielle & i am with jennifer (and logan)

the gift table before most of the gifts arrived

jennifer's older son, jackson, is so excited about becoming a big brother.
he got lots of fun gifts too!

loved the mason jars with raffia for the utensils

the centerpiece for each table was a cute little jar filled with popcorn kernels and a sunflower--so cute!

mckinlee & nana

me & mck
(somehow we always seem to match even if we aren't trying!)

danielle & i

mckinlee's gift was so cute.
she knitted logan the softest little hat and put an outfit in a paint can--jennifer loved it!

more decorations--diaper cake with danielle's fall owl perched on top

more sunflowers

jennifer's sister, mom & d

we wrote messages on diapers for jen to read in the middle of the night.
mine said:
this too shall pass

this was such a neat little treat for everyone to take home.
little bags with 2 graham crackers, a marshmallow and a chocolate...

and this little note attached to it.
(i just had mine last night--it was yummy!)

a couple of mck's friends--ari & brooke

nana with the newest baby--parker. she is such a little chub and so precious!

there was also a table covered in white drawing paper and crayons that kept the kids busy

mck with mama dee--they're almost the same height!

didn't get any pictures of her opening the gifts--but she got the cutest little boy things.
can't wait to meet logan in 6 weeks!

wedding time

so last weekend mck & i went to a wedding for this cute couple--matt & lauren
(lauren was one of the flower girls in our wedding and now she's married.
i.feel.old.
a funny: lauren was 3, i think, when she was in our wedding. she was quite the little stinker at that time in her life. i kept hearing all this rustling going on during the wedding and found out later it was lauren rolling around on the floor in her beautiful dress. ha!)

mck with mama dee & papa at the wedding

a friend of my mom's, ruby, and mckinlee

terri & i had on the same dress in different colors--had to get a picture of that!
(side note: my bangs drove me crazy all night. i despise that little piece that never stays with the rest of them.)

danielle & mike at the reception

sadie looking cute in her party dress, as she says.
(at home she did not want to put on said party dress.
when she finally did, she wanted to wear crocs with it! this girl is hilarious!!)

me & danielle
(again, the bangs.)

another one--bright but cute!

and a couple of the bride and me.

the other flower girl in my wedding (mallory, who is also married and beautiful!) was also there and i could have kicked myself that i didn't get a picture with both of them.
wouldn't that have been cute to do a side by side picture of me with them now and 17 years ago? alas, it was not to be.

i have so many things to post...a couple new recipes i tried, some random stuff and after this weekend, a baby shower for a good friend of ours in waco who is having her second boy in november!
~have a wonderful weekend~

our first monthly craft day

before we moved here, my friends and i in waco used to have a monthly scrapbook day where we would get together and scrapbook for hours. (totally miss that!)
anyway, i decided to have a monthly craft day at my house where we would get together and work on any sort of craft we wanted to--knitting, scrapbooking, cardmaking, sewing, etc.

so today was the first day and we had such a fun time!

here are patricia & april while we were still eating

and here i am with julie--look at all of us in our glasses. how cute!
(i was wearing mine because i had an unfortunate experience that might or might not include these words: jalapenos, fingers, contact lenses, eyes)

we had the yummiest treats
here is julie's famous basil pesto hero sandwich that was fabulous!

patricia brought dates covered in coconut with an almond on top--yum!

i made a fruit salad and a ham/cheese/mushroom/jalapeno quiche that, sadly, i didn't take a picture of. but they were both really good.

and april made these lemon raspberry cupcakes that i could have eaten my weight in!

those were all the pictures i took.
as you can see, crafting was not at the top of our list today.
we did look through julie's pictures of disney, i started helping april make a card and patricia worked on a snapfish album.
(april's daughter was also here and i was watching a friend's little girl and i didn't get pictures of them--sorry! and several other friends couldn't be here--hopefully next month guys!!)
but we had a nice time just talking and visiting.
and i think i have a new project life convert in april. i was showing her my albums and she loved them!

up next is the wedding i went to last weekend...stay tuned.
