our weekend

mom, danielle & sadie came for the weekend.
we had so much fun talking, shopping and eating!

a fun afternoon at the mall was the first order of business.
we buckled sadie in her stroller, gave her a box of raisins and we were on our way!

danielle got a beautiful purse at coach
(and so did mom the next day--but i didn't get a picture)

sadie loved the disney store.
i kept telling her to turn around so i could take her picture, but she would turn the wrong way!

she loves goofy right now.
she ended up with a stuffed goofy & minnie and little plastic figures of her favorite disney characters.

she would have been perfectly happy lining up boxes all afternoon

i picked up mck from school (sadie says "my mimi") and met up with them at stride rite where sadie got some new shoes.

here she is posing in the window

we stopped for snacks--a smoothie & pretzel bites for mom & mck

some cookies for me
(danielle was good and only had a few bites of our stuff)
and fries for sadie

then she got to ride the carousel and LOVED it!

mimi rode too :)

i took pictures of myself in the mirrors, ha!

then we headed to nordstrom where sadie was entertained my climbing all over this round couch. she got a little wild so we had to get her off that!

i took her to the dressing room to wait for danielle and take more pictures.
i wanted her to stand beside me, but she wouldn't.

leaving the mall--tired but happy.
sadie loved panda express

saturday afternoon we went to a big outlet mall and probably walked 2 miles!
sadie slept a long time in her stroller--and she got the cutest crocs with goofy & mickey on them.

she loved this fountain

looking adorable in her shades

mck also played the viola for us.
sadie loves the "moo-get" as she says!

we had such a fun time & can't wait until they come back!

instagram friday

totally can't remember if these were done with instagram or camera+.
(i, personally, like camera+ better.)
linking up over at life rearranged

this was a quote i saw on someone's blog & loved it!

mckinlee & i ususally go to paciugo's on friday for our weekly treat.

i love this gelato!
the flavors i almost always get are: 2 scoops of mediterranean sea salt caramel, 1 extra dark chocolate & 1 red velvet cake.
(my mouth is totally watering right now!)

the last time my mom was in town we went to corner bakery for breakfast.
i am in love with chilled oatmeal--who would have thought?
doesn't cold oatmeal sound disgusting? i thought so--but i decided to live a little & try it and i was most pleasantly surprised!
you really must give this a try.

mom with her delicious looking breakfast
and me with mine--i look terrible, i know. i was just getting over a 3 day headache!

i have got to post more pictures from my phone--it just takes forever for my iphone pics to download so i end up not doing it very often!

~happy weekend~

randomness

just a few random things...

1. just before i took this picture cosmo was turned the other way and it looked like he was reading mckinlee's music. :)

2. i have all my fall decorations out (even though there is no semblance of fall in the air) except for a new fall wreath for my door and a fall picture or large plate for my kitchen.

3. i am not watching dancing with the stars this season. (i could insert a lot of tacky comments here, but i will refrain.)

4. i am currently reading these two books. i am halfway done with rules of civility & i love it! i am only 8 pages into the other one & have answered yes to almost all the questions they have asked (and i'll have to read a little more, but i don't think that's a good thing!)

5. mckinlee is sounding really good on her viola.

6. i just happened to look down at my stomach and i could totally pass for being about 4 months pregnant (i am not.)

7. got this yummy scarf (and a few other goodies) at the jcrew outlet store today.

8. i have so many spray painting projects i need to do, but i keep putting them off because the smell gives me a headache.

9. there is a candy called milk chocolate honeycomb that i buy at sprouts in the bulk bins and it is delicious! don't think there's even any honey in it. i am totally willing myself not to go downstairs and get some this very minute! (see #6)

10. i can't wait for my mom, sister & niece to come this weekend!

welcome to what we wore wednesday--where we link up to the pleated poppy and share some of the outfits we've worn over the week.
i haven't done this in a long time, so there's more pictures than usual.
some people do this to get out of the rut of wearing a certain style of clothing or just comfy clothes all the time--mckinlee & i do it more to remember some of the things we've put together and to remember ones that we're definitely not going to wear again!

a few yummies

here are a few things i've been enjoying lately...

first up--this wonderful concoction of french bread, goat cheese, peaches, cinnamon & honey.
i got the idea from jill's blog.
i didn't have a baguette and i used awful grocery store peaches--i'm sure it's fabulous with fresh peaches!
i will be having this quite often.

i'd never had peanut sauce until my friend, julie, told me about it.
this kind is from target and is a good reason to have to go to target (as if i needed a reason to have to go to target)

i saute chicken, make spaghetti noodles and toss with the peanut sauce, then sprinkle some green onions--i went a little overboard with the onions here.
very yummy and super quick and easy!

finally, one of the crockpot recipes i tried the other day.
i'm pretty sure i found this on kelly's korner during her crockpotalooza.

beef tips & noodles

1 pkg. egg noodles (or rice)
2 pkgs. brown gravy mix
1 lb. beef tips or stew meat, cubed
8 oz. sliced mushrooms

place meat at bottom of crockpot. top with sliced mushrooms. mix brown gravy according to package directions. pour over beef tips and mushrooms. cook on low 6 to 8 hours until meat falls apart because it's so tender. cook egg noodles according to package. cover with meat & gravy mix.
this was good too! (although the gravy was a little thin)
with cooler weather (hopefully) coming, i'm getting anxious to accumulate more crockpot recipes.
i will share when i find some good ones!

logan's woodland baby shower

saturday was jennifer's shower for baby logan.
the theme was woodland creatures since that's what she's doing his room in.
it turned out so cute--danielle & jennifer's mom & sister had everything looking so darling!

here danielle & i am with jennifer (and logan)

the gift table before most of the gifts arrived

jennifer's older son, jackson, is so excited about becoming a big brother.
he got lots of fun gifts too!

loved the mason jars with raffia for the utensils

the centerpiece for each table was a cute little jar filled with popcorn kernels and a sunflower--so cute!

mckinlee & nana

me & mck
(somehow we always seem to match even if we aren't trying!)

danielle & i

mckinlee's gift was so cute.
she knitted logan the softest little hat and put an outfit in a paint can--jennifer loved it!

more decorations--diaper cake with danielle's fall owl perched on top

more sunflowers

jennifer's sister, mom & d

we wrote messages on diapers for jen to read in the middle of the night.
mine said:
this too shall pass

this was such a neat little treat for everyone to take home.
little bags with 2 graham crackers, a marshmallow and a chocolate...

and this little note attached to it.
(i just had mine last night--it was yummy!)

a couple of mck's friends--ari & brooke

nana with the newest baby--parker. she is such a little chub and so precious!

there was also a table covered in white drawing paper and crayons that kept the kids busy

mck with mama dee--they're almost the same height!

didn't get any pictures of her opening the gifts--but she got the cutest little boy things.
can't wait to meet logan in 6 weeks!
