ok~this is my 4th try writing this post. none of my pictures would load, so i hope this finally works. last thursday a few of us got together for our monthly girl's breakfast. we are trying to go the first thursday of every month. this time it was la madeleine and it was so yummy! several girls couldn't make it so it was just the four of us: me, natalee, patricia and mindy.

i had my usual: ham and swiss quiche, lemon madeleine and coffee. next month we try breadwinners. i've never been to one, but i hear they're wonderful. i'll let you know!

today i had to buy a few groceries and pick up a few things at target (my happy place). i couldn't leave without this handsoap. it smells wonderful and look how cute and vintage-looking it is.

this dress i picked up for mckinlee. she took one look at it and let's just say it's in the bag with the receipt tucked neatly beside it awaiting it's return to the racks of target. (isn't it cute? what's so wrong with it? i'd wear it. she may have no dress clothes for the fall/winter season...)

these are not really that red irl. they're more purply-burgundy. anyway they matched a cute shirt i had on...so in the basket they went. i sometimes have a problem with target shoes. they're always very cute, but sometimes they're not all that comfortable--and i refuse to buy uncomfortable shoes no matter what they cost. but these are cute and comfy!

i can't wait for cold weather just so i can wear this sweater. i love the colors and it is so soft, it felt like a blanket.

didn't get this today. this is just the next book i've started. chris and i have been on a real reading binge lately. since he's been home sick the past week, he's read...........................................................

3 books!! that is amazing for him. he never really even liked to read, but the other day he said, "i feel the strange urge just to lay in bed and read!" did my ears hear that correctly? i can't believe it--a coffee-drinking-book-reading-husband?? that only took 15 years! there is no telling what he might be doing by the time we reach our 25th anniversary.

we made this delicious pizza for dinner on saturday. chris has been wanting a healthy (is there such a thing?) pizza lately. he had wanted me to make my own crust. but since i have neither a bread machine, a heavy duty mixer with the right attachment, nor a packet of yeast, we had to settle for this premade crust. (healthy, of course.) we put mushrooms, jalapenos, purple onion, red and yellow tomatoes, pepperoni, goat cheese, freshly shredded parmesan and thick slices of mozzarella. can you tell from this picture how delightful this was? oh my goodness--i don't think i will ever buy a slice of pizza again.

we've been busy doing other things too. like continuing to work on cleaning out the guest room, rearranging mckinlee's room and moving stuff all around in the scrapbook room. i will show some pictures soon. have a great week. i'll leave you with my menu for the week:
monday: chicken with garlic and vegetables, french bread
tuesday: slow-cooker chili, cornbread muffins
wednesday: chicken piccata (danielle's recipe), broiled asparagus
thursday: hot dogs with homemade chili, chips
friday: firecracker salmon, sauteed vegetables, parmesan couscous
saturday: nachos
sunday: eat out
