16th anniversary party

(i have so many posts waiting to be posted. so i'm starting the farthest back. here's the first one.)

a few weekends ago, we were able to go to waco to celebrate our 16th anniversary with our families.
we first met some of my family at logan's and had a wonderful dinner and then went to my grandparent's house for ice cream sundaes and presents!

the table was so pretty with bright colors, flowers and all the musts for sundaes!

everything was so cute!

oh boy--was this good!

here we are opening our presents.
we got such thoughtful cards and generous gifts. we appreciated so much all the trouble everyone went to for us!

mck with some of her goodies!

this group shot is really special--i hadn't seen some of my cousins in years! (i didn't know they were going to be there, so it was such a nice surprise!) it was so great to all be together. since my grandaddy isn't doing well at all, i was so happy to be able to have this family picture with almost all of us!

mck and i spent the night at danielle and mike's and got lots of "sadie time"!
this was bathtime sunday morning. look at that face. precious, no?

here's all that hair after her bath!

the poor child never gets an escape from the camera! this was on the way to the meeting.

and my personal favorite with the bib i bought her.
i still can't get over those cheeks--p.r.e.c.i.o.u.s.
she is so sweet i could just eat her up with a spoon!

after the meeting sunday, we went over to chris' mom and dad's for more yummy food and presents. here is mck opening hers.

since she started shaving her legs this year, they got her an electric razor and she was thrilled!

after lunch we had this yum-o cheesecake for dessert!

here we are after 16 years.
(i personally think we look better now than we did 16 years ago!)

we are so appreciative of our wonderful families for such a nice anniversary weekend~
thanks you guys!

staff appreciation gifts 2010

(i forgot i never posted this until i was reminded this past weekend!)

every year i try to do something cute for the staff at mckinlee's school.
a few weeks before staff appreciation at my stampin' up class, we made the cutest things and i decided to go with that for little gifts this year. (i also got a gift card for mck's homeroom teacher and that went into a basket the room mom took care of.)

first up is a little candy bar holder which, i suppose, you could use for a bookmark or something after you've eaten the candy.
it was made with the two-tags die from stampin' up, several punches, patterned paper, etc.

on the back you attach a little candy bar with adhesive.

then i covered water bottles with a strip of paper, attached a cute little cardstock decoration (if anyone wants the instructions i can find those and post them.)and put a crystal light in the pocket.

i got cellophane bags (that ended up being too little) and put the water bottle and candy bar in, tied it up with pretty ribbon and that was that!
these are the ones i did for her teachers, coaches, etc. that are men.

then i did the same thing for the women teachers but with different (girly) papers.

i thought it all turned out pretty cute and everyone seemed to like them!

one of my "happy places"--target. love all their seasonal stuff. aren't those colors gorgeous?

5.19.10
wednesday
mckinlee and her friend amber (and mr. brian) at their medal presentation at gymnastics. mck is a natural gymnast--she loves it and is so good at it(if i do say so myself!) they want to move her into an advanced power tumbling class next year, but she doesn't want to leave amber--so we'll see what happens...

5.20.10

i went to our local nursery to get some flowers today. i'm really loving planting flowers (and keeping them alive!)

5.21.10

5.22.10

we finally were able to go to waco to have our 16th anniversary party. grandaddy is not doing well at all, but it was so nice to have almost our whole family together! that hasn't happened in a long time. we had a wonderful dinner and then came to mama jeanne and grandaddy's for an ice cream sundae party and presents. (more pictures and a post on that to come...)

Project Life Tuesday-Week 19

well, it's project life tuesday again over at the mom creative.
here's our past week:

5.11.10
tuesday
today was "eat lunch with mom (or someone special) day" at mckinlee's school. i stopped at chick-fil-a to pick up a special treat and we had a nice lunch. on each table were the cutest centerpieces of vases filled with gumballs and then a quote about moms. as we left, we got to take the cutest decorated sugar cookie all wrapped up so darling!
(on a side note...i am so tired of straightening my hair, so i'm going for that tousled look. not too sure how that's working out for me. ha!)

5.12.10
wednesday
since my friend patricia told me she'd help me make table skirts for my scrapbook room tables, i offered to help her do something. she has decided that she is painting her entire house by herself. i told her the thought would never, ever enter my mind to do that, but she's obviously more courageous than i. anyway, i went over today to help her paint. it doesn't look like a big difference in the picture, but the change is amazing!

5.13.10
thursday
mckinlee came running out of school today begging to go to walgreens. i only thought we were going to escape the zany bandz craze sweeping through the nation. when we got to walgreens, there were huge displays of these overpriced rubber bands and as we were there, probably 10+ kids ran in with their frazzled mother trailing behind them with a look of disbelief on their face. why, you ask? because these little bags of bands which were, no doubt, available a few weeks ago for $1 are now 2 for $10! or $5.99 per package if you so desire. i told mckinlee there was no way i was spending $10 for rubber bands, so if she wanted 2 packs she would have to pay me $5 when we got home. she was all for that. when we got home, we looked all over the internet trying to find more with different shapes and almost ordered some on amazon. we decided to look at different stores the next day and see what we could come up with.
the next day she came home from school and declared that zany bandz have been banned from the 5th grade! go figure.

5.14.10
friday
we've had major storm systems in our area, but completely miss us except for a few drops of rain. if something doesn't happen soon, i think my head is going to explode off my neck :(

5.15.10
saturday
mckinlee made pancakes for us this morning and i covered mine with all this yummy fruit!

5.16.10
sunday
i never knew silly putty could provide hours of entertainment for an almost 11 year old. mck loves this stuff! she spent forever make silly putty fingers and wanted a picture of this one and for it to be put on my blog because "it looks so real!"

5.17.10
monday
today was grocery day. this is one of the cheese displays at whole foods. do you like goat cheese? if so, you have to try capricho de cabra plain--the creamiest goat cheese ever. danielle got me hooked on this when i tried it at her house one day--and we are all addicted to it. i just bought some today and by this evening half of it was gone! it's amazing to me that my picky, picky eater loves this!

thanks for taking a peek at our, oh so interesting, life. ha!
see you next tuesday.
