memorial 2010

just now getting around to posting these pictures from memorial. it was a wonderful evening of appreciation and gratitude for the incredible sacrifice jesus provided for us.

the flower arrangement was the most beautiful i had ever seen. the colors were amazing.

just a shot of the bread...

and the wine.

chris and i~~we usually try to match. but it didn't happen this year.
he gave the talk and he did a great job--i was so proud of him!

patricia and her family...

here's one of all of us. mckinlee was not in the mood for family pictures--but sure took a lot of her and her friends!

several of the girls got some of the flowers afterwards. she was so excited!

the goodharts...

and the learys

look at sweet bianca with her flower--she was cracking us up!

mckinlee got one of me and julie with her camera.

claire, mk, chloe and amber. aren't they cute?
look at mck's pink gloss. i said didn't she think that was a little bright--to which she replied, no. and that was the end of that conversation!

we went to cheddar's afterwards with the goodharts and ungers and had a nice time. there were so many friends there from other congregations--i bet there were 75 of us there!

mckinlee and alexa with more flowers
(i was trying to keep the neon beer sign out the picture--didn't quite happen!)

sadly, as you can tell, i didn't take many pictures. i was really trying to get around and meet a lot of new people, so not many pictures.
but it was a wonderful night that we will remember forever.

Project Life Tuesday-Week 12

it's that time again...project life tuesday. if you don't know what that is, go get the scoop at the mom creative and also see how others are documenting their year.

3.24.10
wednesday
chris has been out of town all week on business, so mckinlee and i ate out a couple nights--something fun and different! jc's has the best burgers and when we got there, we realized mckinlee ate free (this was actually taken on tuesday, but who cares?)
3.25.10
thursday
mckinlee's class went to the symphony today and she sneaked in her camera (that's my girl!) it's kind of blurry because she was afraid she'd get in trouble if she used the flash!

3.26.10
friday
a friend of mine, natalie, and i ate at pho mac for lunch. this is b8--the only thing i ever get here and it was delish!
3.27.10
saturday
earlier this week, i went to a flower class at my stampin' up lady's house. we made 2 beautiful flower pins. that's my black and cream one before i frayed all the edges. the little aqua one in front is mine too and was so easy to make. (i will post a tutorial when i get all the pieces i need to make it.)
3.28.10
sunday
my daughter cracks me up! i told her to go take a shower before the meeting. when i went to check on her, she had printed off song lyrics and taped them to the outside of the shower so she could learn the words to some new songs while she bathed!

3.29.10
monday
i have started taking mckinlee regularly to the chiropractor since she's been getting headaches and has leg and foot cramps from time to time. we have the best chiropractor and she loves getting adjusted!

3.30.10
tuesday
this is my spring centerpiece for my breakfast table. i just loved these little crackled birds and put them on a clear cake stand on my table. sweet and simple.

thanks for taking a minute to look at my week in pictures. see you next tuesday :)

the monday update

well, not a lot to report today. i haven't been in a very blogging mood and i didn't take many pictures over the weekend.
chris was in san antonio all last week at a client so it was just me and mckinlee. we had a nice week and didn't have to worry about making a big dinner or having it ready at any certain time--that's nice every once in a while. but we were glad to see chris when he got home!
he had stopped at his mom and dad's to spend the night so he could break up the driving time and dee had got this for mckinlee:

mck was so excited! she loves eating the fries dee makes in these. so we tried it out saturday night and they were good! (the amount of oil we had to use kind of grossed us both out--but those fries were yummy!)

sunday we had such a nice speaker at the meeting. at one point he read 1Corinthians 2:16 about "the mind of Christ" and he said anytime we read something Jesus did or said, we should ask ourselves: why did he do that? and what does it teach us?
doing that will help us become spiritual people and develop the "mind of Christ."
i just really liked that point and am going to try to do that more.

since i've been using my new origins regime (which i will review soon) and loving it, i decided to also try their sunless tanning lotion. i had read several reviews on-line of this product where people said the smell was wonderful and it absolutely did not streak or look orange.
now the smell of sunless tanning products has never bothered me, but i know it does for a lot of people. the streaking and looking orange are much more of a problem for me! well, i used this once so far and let me tell you...run to your nearest origins counter and pick up this little turquoise bottle of goodness!
i exfoliated first in the shower and then mixed some regular lotion with this to really moisturize. the color truly looks like you've just been out in the sun. the best $18.50 i have ever spent! let me know how it works for you if you try it!

for our anniversary, chris and i rarely buy each other anything. we usually just set an amount to spend for both of us and then either go shopping together or pick up things we've been wanting on our own. maybe not the most romantic set-up, but it works for us and we're both happy with what we get!
so i knew i wanted a new scent for this spring/summer and decided (after being engulfed in a sea of fragrance at macy's, alternating with the jar of coffee beans) that i would try this:
burberry brit sheer. it's so light and sweet and best of all--it's pink!
i will show you some of my other gifts as i get them!

i have got to get off this computer and run some errands. one of the top ones will be finding jewelry that matches these shoes.
(i am wearing a lime green blouse, white pencil skirt and these shoes for memorial on tuesday night.) i figure with all those colors i should be able to find something...we'll see.
have a great monday. i will see you tomorrow for project life tuesday!

the monday update

good morning! it's been a long time since i've posted anything. mckinlee was on spring break and we spent most the week in waco. prepare yourselves for a ton of pictures!

friday afternoon did not start out so well. i was going to pick mck up early from school--but there was something she had to stay for, so we left at about 3:40. this was my view for about 2 hours. (i figured since i wasn't doing anything else, i might as well take some pictures!)
we were in non-moving traffic for 2 hours! there was a bad wreck on i-35 and they had shut down the highway. thankfully, by the time we got up to it, they had opened up 2 lanes so we didn't have to exit off.

this is not the best representation of it, but the hov lane was a nightmare. there were people going south on it, then police and highway workers were everywhere opening sections of it so that people could turn around, because they needed everyone to go north. it was such a mess, people were just stuck. they just had their cars turned off and were walking all around talking to people. i was SO thankful i was not in the hov lane.

we finally made it to waco. i dropped mckinlee off at brooke's house to spend the night and i went to danielle's. i was so late that sadie had already gone to bed :( but i did get to peek in at her and couldn't believe how much she'd grown!
saturday we had mom and les' first anniversary dinner party. we all met at se cocina and had a wonderful dinner and then went back to danielle's for dessert and presents.

here's the happy couple

mike, danielle and sadie (i'm sorry danielle. this was the only picture i had.) we laughed so hard at this picture because the way mike is sitting, he looks like a little boy!

mckinlee and i

aaron and peggy

nathan and vicki

for dessert we had fresh fruit and the yummiest cupcakes. aren't they pretty?

mom & les opening their gifts

did i mention how good these were?

monday danielle, sadie and i met kali for lunch at chipotle. yum!

then we went to the mall where sadie got her first sunglasses. too cute!
mckinlee spent a lot of time holding or wanting to hold sadie. i love these pictures of her (i think nana was making her laugh!)

she has the biggest, most beautiful eyes and will imitate you if you open your eyes real wide!
wednesday was hair cut day. here is mckinlee's before:
and the after:
(i love her with short hair and pray that she wants to keep it this way)
mckinlee and sadie at chick-fil-a
we stopped by to see my sweet grandparents before we left to come home
friday was our 16th anniversary. mckinlee went to stay the night with a friend and chris and i went to the galleria to shop a little and eat dinner.
chris is big into shaving right now, so this store was right up his alley.
then we went to dinner at the oceanaire. it was beautiful and the food was fabulous. here's a shot of the restaurant and chris browsing the menu.
our menu said happy 16th anniversary--how cute!
chris and his food (actually, that was my food. they mixed it up!) i got the pan seared costa rican mahi mahi, king crab tortellini & lobster cream. oh. my. goodness. can you say delicious? we also had roasted garlic mashed potatoes, haricots verts amandine (green beans with almonds) and chardonnay roasted mushrooms with garlic and thyme infused butter (this was, quite possibly, the best thing we've ever eaten in our lives! no joke.)
and here i am with chris' food. (jumbo lump maryland style crab cakes with creamy mustard mayonnaise) equally as good.
they also brought us out a baked alaska for our anniversary. here our server is lighting it. it was good--probably not what we'd order, but good.
pretty yummy--but no chocolate anywhere :(
we didn't realize the galleria's stores closed at nine, so we walked around a little longer and then drove home. it was a nice anniversary and the first time we've actually done something on our anniversary in a long time! (usually we just wait until chris is not so busy at work)
saturday was so cold and rainy when we woke up and by that night snow was coming down.
but, we were in no way prepared for what we saw when we woke up sunday morning...

is that incredible or what? apparently, it had snowed all night and was stilling snowing when we woke up. we got 7-9 inches of snow on the second day of spring! i don't what the record is exactly, but i know we've set one with all the snow we've had!
today, it's beautiful, sunny and should get up to 65! crazy i tell ya!

i have lots of errands and stuff to do today--so i better get started! have a great day. tomorrow is project life tuesday and i have two weeks to make up :)
