a baby shower

recently we went to a baby shower for our sweet friend, jessica, at michele's house.

here's the guest of honor in front of just one of the cute decorations.

here's the dessert table--beautiful, no?

here's a close-up of the fabulous goodies we enjoyed.
these gorgeous cake balls were some of the richest things i've ever tasted.

i didn't have one of these, but they were pretty.

these were amazing. can you tell what they are?

marshmallows dipped in sea salt caramel and drizzled with chocolate.
be still my heart.

i wish i'd had one of these--i heard they were amazing.

here is what i did enjoy and it was scrumptious!
white cake and white frosting--my absolute favorite!

michele always hosts the most fabulous showers and parties. she thinks of every little detail.
i loved the water with fun baby confetti in the bottom.

and the plasticware folded up so pretty.

this was a fun thing.
she had us all bring baby pictures of each of our family members and displayed them for people to guess who was who!

here's the one i brought of mckinlee--one of my favorite pictures of her!

this is me.
(someone looked at this and said is that sadie? too funny!)

i absolutely adore this picture of chris!

and a picture of the hostess posing by the pregnant dress form!

cute diaper cake--made by mindy, i think.

a shot of all the girls

me & mckinlee

and the only pic i got of jessica opening her gifts.

we can't wait to meet her baby boy--he should be here soon!

back to blogging...and some things i've been enjoying

it's been exactly 1 month since my last post--what can i say?
sometimes i just want to live life, not blog about it!

here are a few things i've been loving lately:

1. i was introduced to this sweet morsel of goodness at whole foods a while back. i had to stop myself from taking every single sample available. this is one of the best things i've ever placed in my mouth. and it's completely raw (that's a good thing), vegan and gluten free! honestly i don't know how it could be so good for you and taste as good as it does.

2. it had me at "peach."
i love anything peach flavored and i love this lemonade!

3. another love of mine...coconut. saw someone raving about this on their blog and decided i needed to try it too. i would never put it in cereal (but then again, the whole cereal and milk thing kind of grosses me out. i know. i'm weird. especially to my husband who thinks cereal is its own food group!) but this is so refreshing and not milky at all, which obviously is why i drink it.

4. the pioneer woman's green beans
this is the only way i cook grean beans now--so yum!
(although, truth be told. i don't use the bacon grease.)
ok, so that's all for now.
i promise to be back this week with more from my insanely entertaining life.
yeah, right.

what we've been eating...

so...a few things we've been loving.

first up:
have you tried these? oh my goodness are they good and i really can't believe they only have 100 calories each! mckinlee loves these.

second:
we love protein bars around here. i'll post a picture of chris' favorite next week.
i'm liking these. and since they have coconut in them i know that no one else will eat them but me!

next:
i put one of these in a gift basket for chris' mom & dad and had to get one for myself! i found it at whole foods and let me tell you--divine! i love anything that has a little salty taste mixed with sweet and this did not disappoint.

obviously, i have been craving a lot of sweets (what's new?)

so the last thing is:
homemade chicken & rice soup

we've been feeling not great, so i made this sunday night & it was just what we needed!
there's something about chicken soup that is so comforting, right?

what we did this weekend

friday i picked mck up early from school and we headed to waco for chris' nephew's wedding.
sadly, this was one of the only pictures i took of the bride & groom.
look at all those pretty ruffles on her dress!

the cake was so elegant & pretty and it was one of the best wedding cakes i've ever tasted.

the tables were so pretty--loved all the white everywhere

i absolutely love white flowers--the little crystals were so pretty too

the picture didn't come out too well, but the candlelight and loose crystals all over the tables were just beautiful!

the dinner was catered by a local mexican food restaurant and was delicious

chris had been working out of town and made it to waco just in time

chris' sister, melissa--the mother of the groom, chris' mom & me

mck & i stayed the night with chris' mom & dad, slept late (we needed it after that late night) and then met mom, danielle & sadie for lunch.

sadie loves taking pictures and took this one of mom & mckinlee--very good!

and this one!

clearly, she's a very reserved, sad child. ha!
(look at those dimples on both of them--so cute!)

mom, danielle & i were all wearing stripes.
(totally reminded me of when we were living at home and would go to our rooms to get ready. when we came out, we'd all be wearing the same color or similar outfits!)

we had a fun weekend--until last night & today when we all started feeling bad. i think it's beginning to be that time of year for terrible allergies. yuck. or maybe it's a cold. yuck, yuck.
