wedding time

so last weekend mck & i went to a wedding for this cute couple--matt & lauren
(lauren was one of the flower girls in our wedding and now she's married.
i.feel.old.
a funny: lauren was 3, i think, when she was in our wedding. she was quite the little stinker at that time in her life. i kept hearing all this rustling going on during the wedding and found out later it was lauren rolling around on the floor in her beautiful dress. ha!)

the other flower girl in my wedding (mallory, who is also married and beautiful!) was also there and i could have kicked myself that i didn't get a picture with both of them.
wouldn't that have been cute to do a side by side picture of me with them now and 17 years ago? alas, it was not to be.

i have so many things to post...a couple new recipes i tried, some random stuff and after this weekend, a baby shower for a good friend of ours in waco who is having her second boy in november!

our first monthly craft day

before we moved here, my friends and i in waco used to have a monthly scrapbook day where we would get together and scrapbook for hours. (totally miss that!)
anyway, i decided to have a monthly craft day at my house where we would get together and work on any sort of craft we wanted to--knitting, scrapbooking, cardmaking, sewing, etc.

so today was the first day and we had such a fun time!

i made a fruit salad and a ham/cheese/mushroom/jalapeno quiche that, sadly, i didn't take a picture of. but they were both really good.

and april made these lemon raspberry cupcakes that i could have eaten my weight in!

those were all the pictures i took.
as you can see, crafting was not at the top of our list today.
we did look through julie's pictures of disney, i started helping april make a card and patricia worked on a snapfish album.
(april's daughter was also here and i was watching a friend's little girl and i didn't get pictures of them--sorry! and several other friends couldn't be here--hopefully next month guys!!)
but we had a nice time just talking and visiting.
and i think i have a new project life convert in april. i was showing her my albums and she loved them!

very random

this is going to be a very random post--because that's how my mind is working tonight :)

1. i had goat cheese (specifically capricho de cabra) and almond crackers for dinner.

2. i have been on a reading kick and just finished a book today. since 1996 i have kept a list of every book i've read and when i read it. how's that for random?

3. we saw zookeeper tonight--silly stupid, but funny.

4. we are having 2 crockpot meals this week--i will tell you how they turn out.

5. this is currently one of my favorite pictures of me & chris.

6. i do not have any sort of solid navy blue shirt and need one desperately.

7. i am about to have a cup of coffee and a lemon biscotti.

8. i tried some of my boots on last night just to imagine what it will feel like to have cold weather.

9. every once in a while mckinlee will still call me "mommy"--i will miss that when she doesn't do that anymore.

10. chris got gum all over his jeans at the movie theater and i successfully removed it when we got home with hairspray and a pampered chef scraping tool.

the first day of 7th grade

what a momentous day--my baby girl going to 7th grade!

i can hardly believe it.
here's a little glimpse at our morning:

all of her stuff on the breakfast table...jewelry, lip gloss, perfume, deodorant, class schedules and her outfit binder that she worked diligently on to record what she wears each day!

i have to say, this was the first day of school that i didn't feel even a little sad.
i dropped her off, waved and headed to the gym--where i enjoyed (ha!) the first workout i've had in months. i must have been a little too eager because apparently i pulled something in my shoulder/back out of place--boo. off to take a hot shower...

mckinlee had a great day and seems to like 7th grade just fine!

'twas the night before school...

and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring,
not even...
the air conditioner!
well, it's finally happened. the upstairs air has gone out again. actually it has been a year, so i guess that's pretty good. last year it took from april to august for the goons from our home warranty to fix the problem. needless to say, we've discontinued our home warranty service & i've had a nice little chat with a poor customer service rep who was unfortunate enough to call me one day! i was very polite to him, but suggested they contract out for reputable companies who actually know how to fix something they claim to. so bright & early tomorrow morning i will be calling someone who knows what they're doing!

now on to something else...
*school starts tomorrow---boo and/or yay!
i am very much a summer lover, but am a little glad school is starting.
i'm telling myself that i'm really going to be organized and scheduled this year (are you proud of me, danielle?) in fact, i already have my weekly cleaning schedule completed. come tomorrow, that carpet is going to be so clean!
*i am so behind in blogs posts--i still have vacation pictures to post! i am going to try to be better about posting more too. as if anyone cares--ha!

we kept sadie last saturday-tuesday while mike & danielle went on a much needed relaxation getaway. i didn't take too many pictures because i was too busy playing with sadie, but we had a ball. she is so hysterical!
i've never heard a 19 month old talk as much as she does.
two funny things she said that cracked me up:
*we picked my mom up in the car to go somewhere and sadie said:
"nana...so good to see you!"
*i had been trying to teach her what god's son's name is and asked her as i was changing her diaper. she said:
"jesus. (pause) yay jesus. hooray jesus!" oh my goodness--i died laughing!

then thursday, one of my best friends and her daughter came to visit and craft with us.
we showed them how to make fabric flowers...

and they showed mckinlee how to knit using the knifty knitter!

*danielle wanted me to take some 18 month pictures of sadie in her cute tea party outfit.
while i took some with her camera, mckinlee took all of these with mine.

*i might not be posting for a while. our computer is going to be overhauled so it will hopefully be a bit faster. and maybe i can work on my pictures without having to reboot 3-4 times!

*danielle and i (& maybe mom--i will have to double check!) are doing a no spending challenge for the month of august. we cannot buy any clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. for the month. i decided to do this as i heard some wonderful information over the weekend that got me thinking about my focus and goals.

*school starts in 3 weeks and i'm so not ready. i love summer and no schedules, etc.

*that would also mean my workouts resume in 3 weeks--and i am happy (kind of) about that!

*i am done with summer. it is forecasted to be 110 here today. boo :(
