a fun weekend with family

i'm taking a break from my beach pictures to post our fun weekend.
mckinlee had been in waco for a week while chris & i went to baltimore (business for him, shopping for me!) i went to pick her up and stay for a few days with my mom.

saturday evening we went out to where my uncle has basically built a lake. it's used for ski competitions and it's just beautiful.

mom, mj & danielle on our trek to get to the pavilion
(you know how i love pictures from behind!)

as we were coming up to the bridge someone was just crossing it
close up of bridge--so cool!

this was my first time out here. apparently it was nothing but flat land...look at it now.
so pretty!

the band played and we sat around and talked, laughed & ate homemade ice cream.

mck getting to visit with some of her friends.
then she got to go home with brooke for a sleepover.

sunday morning danielle & mom went to the store and i watched sadie.
we had fun playing with her basket of toys. i think she's going to be a neat freak...when i would pull out more stuff, she would say "put it back" and put the toy back before we got another one!

here she is playing with my doll, mary, from when i was her age!

then we went out on the porch where she entertained herself with mom's little fridge.
more neat freak glimpses...she put a water bottle by those 2 sprite bottles and then the other sprite on the other side. she looked at it and said "oh!" and then repositioned everything so all the sprite bottles were together! ha!
(look at her in her little purple toms--too cute!)

sunday night mom & i made homemade ice cream and it was so yum! we didn't even know it was national ice cream day--what a coincidence.
(that would explain why it was so hard to find rock salt!)

here's my bowl...vanilla with chocolate chips and pecans!

me & mom on their beautiful porch

and danielle

monday we went over to help a friend get ready for her bridal portraits.
i did her nails & danielle did her hair & make-up.
here we all are watching the progress.

and the finished product (well, almost--she poofed her bangs a little more)
this is lauren.
we were at the hospital the day she was born and now she's getting married.
i feel old.

here we are with anita, lauren's mom, before we left.

danielle's getting in to zumba. so monday night we plugged in mom's wii and got busy.
(this was to work off all that ice cream we had the day before!)

finally, a little glimpse of the quick photo shoot we did with sadie on tuesday before we came home.
look at her in her tea party outfit--too adorable!

then we moved to the backyard.

stayed tune.
more sadie pictures to come...

our day in seaside

sorry about no posts for a few days...i have had an excruciating head/neck ache every day since we got back from vacation. i thought it was better and now it's back tonight :( boo
but, on to the pictures...

this was our day in seaside.
seaside is the cutest town you could ever imagine
(have you seen the movie, the truman show? it was filmed in seaside and i love to watch just to see all the things i recognize!)

this was a darling kids/toy store
it was filled with the cutest things--way too expensive but that is true of most everything in this quaint town. i don't think we bought anything but bookmarks!

this art gallery was beyond amazing. he uses pounds and pounds of acrylic paint on each picture. it was one of the coolest things i've seen. sadly, a $5000 painting was not in the vacation budget, so we walked on--not without the shop owner telling me that it would be no problem to ship to Plano!

chris & i outside my favorite book store
and inside

i love every thing about this adorable little store

the girls walking through the shops to get to the neighborhood

cute photo booth

LOVE this sign!

everywhere you walked there was beautiful artwork

love this sign too

at the book store i saw an entire book on the white picket fences of seaside.
i think i can do my own now!

cute french store

one of my favorite things is seeing all the old bicycles everywhere!

after i took this picture, amber asked if i just took a picture of the ground!
i love patterns, what can i say?

now my favorite part...the houses!
this house was tiny. you know how i love tiny things.

i loved the clean simplicity of this one

loved the colors and that big porch

oh my--this one i really loved!

more picket fences

i don't know if this was the tool shed or what, but it was cute!

i liked this little outdoor set up.

amber taking a picture

self-portrait through the glass.
LOVE that quote...whatever you are, be a good one

i thought this would be a pretty backdrop

so we got a quick picture

i think this building is so cool!

i love seeing so much white wood everywhere

the main street is lined with all these fabulous old airstream trailers turned into food trailers.
mckinlee decided to eat here...

amber & i went down to the hot dog trailer. these are amazing (organic, i think) hot dogs with none of the junk usually in hot dogs. they were good!

we were pretty tired by this point, so we just went back to the condo to rest.
i'll try to post some beach pictures tomorrow!
