a baseball game and a pool party

(still catching up...)

mckinlee won tickets to a frisco roughriders game before school was out, so we went one wednesday night with some friends.

the first stop: dippin' dots for the kids.
as soon as they were through with their ice cream, they wanted to leave and go to a playground we noticed on the way into the stadium.
(this just cracks me up...the only child looking at the camera is a little girl we didn't even know!)

we couldn't convince them to stay any longer. it wasn't the most exciting game, but i kind of wanted to watch it!

not a good picture, but the only record that patricia and i were there!

here are the kids on the way to the playground.
we left soon after that, but it was a nice evening.

that weekend we were invited over to kevin and michele's for a cookout.

the kids (and some adults) swam and had a great time. then we had a wonderful dinner and fabulous desserts!

they recently redid some of their backyard and it's just beautiful!

for the record, i, mckinlee, hate this picture! my mom didn't care, so here i am eating a hot dog with one of the most horrifying looks on my face.

(for the record, i, the mom, told her i didn't have to post this and i would erase it, but she said no--just so you know i'm not intentionally trying to embarrass my child!)

hope you all had a good weekend!

16th anniversary party

(i have so many posts waiting to be posted. so i'm starting the farthest back. here's the first one.)

a few weekends ago, we were able to go to waco to celebrate our 16th anniversary with our families.
we first met some of my family at logan's and had a wonderful dinner and then went to my grandparent's house for ice cream sundaes and presents!

the table was so pretty with bright colors, flowers and all the musts for sundaes!

everything was so cute!

oh boy--was this good!

here we are opening our presents.
we got such thoughtful cards and generous gifts. we appreciated so much all the trouble everyone went to for us!

mck with some of her goodies!

this group shot is really special--i hadn't seen some of my cousins in years! (i didn't know they were going to be there, so it was such a nice surprise!) it was so great to all be together. since my grandaddy isn't doing well at all, i was so happy to be able to have this family picture with almost all of us!

mck and i spent the night at danielle and mike's and got lots of "sadie time"!
this was bathtime sunday morning. look at that face. precious, no?

here's all that hair after her bath!

the poor child never gets an escape from the camera! this was on the way to the meeting.

and my personal favorite with the bib i bought her.
i still can't get over those cheeks--p.r.e.c.i.o.u.s.
she is so sweet i could just eat her up with a spoon!

after the meeting sunday, we went over to chris' mom and dad's for more yummy food and presents. here is mck opening hers.

since she started shaving her legs this year, they got her an electric razor and she was thrilled!

after lunch we had this yum-o cheesecake for dessert!

here we are after 16 years.
(i personally think we look better now than we did 16 years ago!)

we are so appreciative of our wonderful families for such a nice anniversary weekend~
thanks you guys!

staff appreciation gifts 2010

(i forgot i never posted this until i was reminded this past weekend!)

every year i try to do something cute for the staff at mckinlee's school.
a few weeks before staff appreciation at my stampin' up class, we made the cutest things and i decided to go with that for little gifts this year. (i also got a gift card for mck's homeroom teacher and that went into a basket the room mom took care of.)

first up is a little candy bar holder which, i suppose, you could use for a bookmark or something after you've eaten the candy.
it was made with the two-tags die from stampin' up, several punches, patterned paper, etc.

on the back you attach a little candy bar with adhesive.

then i covered water bottles with a strip of paper, attached a cute little cardstock decoration (if anyone wants the instructions i can find those and post them.)and put a crystal light in the pocket.

i got cellophane bags (that ended up being too little) and put the water bottle and candy bar in, tied it up with pretty ribbon and that was that!
these are the ones i did for her teachers, coaches, etc. that are men.

then i did the same thing for the women teachers but with different (girly) papers.

i thought it all turned out pretty cute and everyone seemed to like them!
